Syllabi Links Forthcoming!

Dear Proud Parent:

Salve and welcome to another great school year! I am very excited to start the year and to continue to build on our strong Latin program which will enrich the lives of your son or daughter as well as contribute to the growing excellence that is BASIS Tucson North.

If you'd like to know a little about me, please click here.  Otherwise, keep reading!

I am excited to start my twentieth year in the classroom and as a Latin Club (or Junior Classical League) sponsor, an aspect of Latin in high school which I feel is crucial to the students' overall growth. One of my main goals this year is to achieve 100% participation in the JCL and to double the active participation in all of its activities, particularly at Fall Forum and at the State Latin Convention. BTN's Latin students will also be able to participate in a wide variety of Latin Club events throughout the school year, including certamen (like quiz bowl, but all about topics that pertain to the classical world), a wide variety of academic tests (such as the National Latin Exam), and other events which are less academic and more for the fun of it (Latin Club dinners, toga bowling, etc.).

None of this is possible without the great parental support we and the students receive as well as the open communication among all of us that allows this to happen. I want to reiterate that frequent and open communication is welcomed and encouraged. I will do my best to keep in continual contact with all parents, but keep in mind that I teach about one hundred students, so this is quite a daunting task! Therefore, I ask that you feel free to email me (the best way to get in touch with me) without hesitation. You can track your child's progress through the Communications Journal (CJ), and I will send various update emails through ParentSquare. Again, I will do my best to contact all of my students' parents, but please consider this an open invitation to contact me with any questions or comments you may have.

Sincerely,

Patrick Yaggy
