The Latinitas Points System

The Latinitas Award honors commitment and excellence in Latin through the Junior Classical League (JCL). JCL members compete with each other within each level of Latin to earn the most points through participation, competition, and volunteerism.

Certamen Tournaments (Participation = 5 pts., Results)
Certamen Tournament that our JCL hosts (Participation = 5 pts, Volunteerism, Results)
NJCL Online Exam (Participation = 5 pts., Results)
SCRIBO Creative Writing Contest (Partipation = 5 pts., Award = 10 pts.)
Fox Classics Writing Contest (Participation = 5 pts., First Place = 20 pts, Honorable Mention = 10 pts.)
Medusa Mythology Exam (Participation = 5 pts., Gold = 10, Silver = 8, Bronze = 6, laurea = 4, olivae = 2)
CAMWS Translation Exam (Participation = 5 pts.; Cash Award = 20 pts., Book Prize = 15 pts., Commendation = 10 pts.)
National Latin Exam (Book Award = 20 pts., Perfect Paper = 20 points, Gold = 20 pts., Silver = 15 pts., Magna Cum Laude = 10 pts., Cum Laude = 5 pts.)
JCL State Convention (Participation = 20 pts., Participation in each event = 1 pt., Awards)
Governor's Honors Program (State Interview = 10 pts, Participant = 20 pts.)
Previous Year’s National Convention (Participation = 20 pts., Participation in each event = 2 pts., Awards)
JCL State Officer (On Final Ballot = 10 pts., or consequently Elected/Appointed = 20 pts.)
JCL Host/Hostess = 10 points
NJCL Officer (On Final Ballot = 20 pts., or consequently Elected/Appointed = 40 pts.)

Convention meeting days beyond the minimum requirement may be counted.

Volunteerism = 1 point / hour
